Crosshaven

Situated approximately 30/40 minutes from Cork City, is one of my favourite little getaway towns in the county. Crosshaven lies right at the mouth of Cork harbour and views of Rochespoint Lighthouse can be seen nearby with the history filled complex of Camden Fort Meagher a shot walk from the village centre.

The village faces Currabinny woods and looks out on numerous small water craft dotted across the bay and marinas.

Between Carrigaline and Crosshaven lies a beautiful scenic walk. Having taken wedding photographs along this route, the atmosphere is very relaxing for anyone interested in portrait, engagement or wedding imagery.

Coming from an island off the west coast of Mayo, it's always fun to check out the various yachts and boats throughout the harbour.

A beautiful winter glow casts its warm light across the landscape as the sun sets at the end of a cold day.

In 2014 I shot Sadya & Zuban's wedding event in the neighbouring Carrigaline. When looking for somewhere scenic to get the couples portraits we knew we had to head straight towards the shoreline by the Carrigaline to Crosshaven walk.

Getting to enjoy the slower pace of life down here is an enjoyable departure from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you would like to have your photographs taken here through either portrait or engagement sessions, you can get in touch with me here.

If there are any images you wish to own a printed copy of, please get in touch with me here.

Roisin & Phil's Engagement Session

PJ Rankin_Drop in the Ocean_Photography-83.jpg

Last weekend I made the journey up to Dublin to do my first engagement shoot of the year. Both Roisin and Phil are from Dublin and we decided to use the nearby Phoenix Park as a beautiful open space to capture their time together. Roisin and Phil also brought their adorable 4 year old daughter Mia, who bravely handled with the bitterly cold weather for mid March!

Roisin & Phil's Engagement

Phoenix Park is known as one of the largest one of the largest enclosed recreational spaces within any European capital city and that gave us plenty of room to make the engagement shoot as intimate as possible.

We spent a few hours wandering around various locations within the park, all with a very relaxed pace for shooting the images. As with anyone who has had a portrait session with me, I always allow time for everyone to get comfortable in front of the camera. It can be unnerving at first but I was happy to get some lovely shots of this young couple.

Great day today in the park!! Thank you so much can’t wait to see the outcome.. Roisin.

Both Roisin and Phil had intended to get married this year but had to postpone the wedding till next year. I think we can all forget how much planning can go into a wedding and it rapidly catch up on you! I had a great time photographing them both and their lovely daughter and I wish them all the best in their future together :) An engagement session is a memorable way of capturing intimate images of you and your partner without the pressure of your wedding day schedule. If you think you would appreciate an engagement session in a relaxed environment, why don't you contact me here and we can start to plan a memorable shoot together.
