Behind the Image

Having arrived at the Black Lake for sunrise, the area was lush with beautiful light and autumnal colour. The iconic hue of the lake is quite striking in person and working within various compositional ideas I had beforehand, I wanted to incorporate that into new imagery. As the sunlight rose over the edge of the mountains, illuminating the various colourful larch trees, capturing their shimmering colours amongst the lake’s surface combined the two palettes elegantly.
